So my computer is still down, however my replacement heat sink is due to arrive tomorrow so should be back to business as usual next week! It also doesn’t help that I’ve come down with some pretty rough sinusitis, but then maybe now is the best time when I couldn’t do anything anyway right?
So for now I’ll leave you with a couple of recommendations…
I recently finished Neal Asher’s latest offering War Machine. And as always I enjoyed every bit of it, but then I have always been a fan. If you’re into sci fi books you won’t go wrong picking up any of Neal Asher’s books. They’re very sci fi – thriller, sharp and to the point, his aliens are alien and no one writes AI better than Neal Asher.
If you’re looking for some space opera you can’t go wrong with any of Peter F. Hamilton’s works. If you want to see what his style is like without committing to a massive trilogy you could try Fallen Dragon, a stand alone story that’s very indicative of his work, you could also check out any of his Greg Mendel stories, set in the near future where science has found a way to unlock psychic abilities in humans, and used for subtle but great effect, it’s more of a noir neo cyber punk style here but well worth reading and easily to get hooked into, but quicker to read.
The Man Who Folded Himself by David Gerrold is a brilliant look into time travel and done differently to any time travel story I’ve ever read, I don’t want to give anything at all away, it’s not a long read but it’s a page turner so if you like time travel stories this one is a must read.
Next week, hopefully I’ll have a meatier post for you as I won’t be posting from my Wife’s (Thanks hon!) old laptop.
