This week has definitely been a week. And as such, being a week, I don’t have enough time to write a decent post so instead I’m going to post something else I wrote, the version list for my latest pre-alpha game.

KNOWN ISSUES
The shield rotation is a bit wierd after you rotate the ship when using the keyboard
No animation on deploying the shield
Sometimes have to click ‘Reset Time Trial’ more than once for the timer to zero properly
PLANS FOR THE NEXT VERSION (The alpha):
I’d like to get into alpha for the next version, so what that means is finding a way to be able to print the resulting space stations out, or save them to your harddrive to print out yourself. That’s my bar for reaching alpha 🙂 I’ve no idea how long this is going to take though, so we’ll see.

Better tile graphics

Enter your own seed
Name your station
Random station name generator
Procedurally generated room content
More floor tiles
Better/more interesting lighting

Add a random flavour text to each room
Add an x/y location for each room/number each room
Send saves to your buddies which can be viewed tile by tile as the game progresses
PRE-ALPHA 3: (16/04/16)
The shield has been added to flight mode and is now deployable and retractable though there’s no animation on deploy as yet
Camera is now much smoother, even on crash
There is now a timed minigame in flight mode. You are timed ojn how long it takes you to escape the asteroid field, you can reset your position and timer to play the same field multiple times with the best time being recorded, or generate a whole new asteroid field to try get the best time in.
Collisions are also recorded in the number of scrapes your ship takes as you fly, try to have as few as possible!
Asteroids now do not generate at the players start point.
Ship is now faster when the shield is retracted
Implemented keyboard controls for the shield
Bug were UI labels weren’t showing on resolutions less than 1920 by 1200 has been resovled, labels now show all the way down to 640 x 480 (tested)
Hide UI option now included to decluter the screen so you can see the station better
You can now zoom in build mode with the mouse scroll wheel
You can drag and move the station around when holding right mouse button
The camera also has limits so you can’t loose the station or zoom to far away or get too close to that station
Primary rooms can now be zeroed if you don’t want them
PRE-ALPHA 2: (02/03/16)
Keyboard controls added to Flight Mode
Rebuilt the generator code from scratch now runs more eficiently and has many more controls and functions
Added UI in to manage all the new controls
Fixed the bug where small stations wouldn’t generate (Twice)
Hit my goals for this version and more, pretty happy about that really
PRE-ALPHA 1: (23/02/16)
This is the first ever build of the generator, consists only of controls for height, width and density and flight mode with gamepad only controls for the ship and a small asteroid field to fly around in.
CONTROLS FOR FLIGHT MODE
Xbox 360 pad (Tested) – Left stick for rotating, left trigger to brake, right trigger to accelerate, Y to deploy and retract shield, right stick to rotate shield
Keyboard – W to accelerate, S to brake, A to rotate anti-clockwise, D to rotate clockwise, E to deply and retract shield, left and right arrows to rotate shield
CONTROLS FOR BUILD MODE:
Mouse Scroll Wheel to zoom in and out, right click and drag to move the station around
